BRS-All About Labels

ALL ABOUT LABELS

Webster defines labels as “a slip of paper, cloth, or other material, marked or inscribed, for attachment to something to indicate its manufacturer, nature, ownership, destination, etc.”

Label Roll
Labels are much more complicated than people realize. There are different adhesives, liners and substrates (material) that makes up the label.  At BRS, we will help you identify what the application is, how it is being applied, what is the expected life of the label and how the label is being printed.

A label identifies the contents of the package but also serves as an advertising medium.  For example, the label on a food package usually has an appetizing photograph of the product, shows the brand name and/or logo, and has various flags, bursts, or other graphic designs highlighting its benefits ("new great taste," "low in calories," "30¢ off," "microwave to table"). A coupon label is sometimes included on the product for discounts, recipes and other suggestions that encourage greater consumption.

In the end, labels are much more complicated than people realize.  At BRS, we will help you determine:

    ⇒ Label Application

⇒ How the label will best apply to a surface

⇒ The expected life of the label

⇒What colors (if any) or material is needed

Team BRS has the expertise to help you find the right label for the right application at the right price.

Label Application Questions

While most of us understand what a label’s function is, many times first time customers don’t know the thousands of choices available for a particular application.  The different types of adhesive, material and liner all can be matched for your unique requirements.  To determine what works best, BRS will takes time to ask some specific application questions.  For instance:

1) What is the label applied to?

2) Will the label need to last for one day or ten years?

3) Does it need colors (solid or a logo) to attract attention?

4) Where will it be applied?  Room temperature, outside or in a freezer?

5) Where will the label reside?  Controlled environment, warehouse, outside, freezer?

6) What type of product will the label be applied to?  Car engine, computer monitor, shipping box?

7) How many labels will you need annually? 100, 25,000 or a million?

8) Will the label be hand- applied to the product or will it be affixed by an automatic applicator?

9) Is there an agency requirement (UL,CSA) or specific drawing that we need to follow?
