If I were to ask you, what is a label?
Your first answer might have something to do with adhesive and paper.  Here’s a popular answer we've gotten when we have asked the question. Labels are sticky pieces of paper.  Is that it?  Based on that definition, all labels are post-it notes.  You might say, wait, that doesn’t work.  I know there are more permanent types of labels. I’ve seen labels that are not made of paper.  They last longer.  They get wet, so it can’t be just paper.  So, here’s a better definition.

Label Definition:
A label is a “sandwich” product made up of liner, releasing agent, adhesive and substrate. The shape and size of the label is determined by the cutting die (like a cookie cuter).  Labels are used to identify origin, owner, contents, use, or destination.

A label on a product package identifies the contents of the package but also serves as an advertising medium.  For example, the label on a food package usually has an appetizingBarcode Labels photograph of the product, shows the brand name and/or logo, and has various flags, bursts, or other graphic designs highlighting its benefits-for example, "new great taste," "low in calories," "30¢ off," "microwave to table," and so forth. A coupon is sometimes included on labels (for this particular purchase or for future purchases), as are recipes and other suggestions that encourage greater consumption.

In the end, labels are much more complicated than people realize there are different adhesives, liners and substrates (material) that makes up the label.  At BRS, we will help you identify what the application is, how it is being applied, what is the expected life of the label is and how the label is being printed.  We have the expertise at Team BRS to help you find the right label for the right application at the right price.  It’s what we do best.
