Client Needs:
The Client requested a wireless computer
attached to several Forklifts at the
distribution floor. They needed a computer
that was extremely rugged that could
withstand the constant vibration of the fork
lift. However, they didn't want to spend an
additional $50,000 on application "middle
ware" to make the "mobile computers" work
with their LAN system. Their budget was
tight (50K) and they needed to connect ten
units to their system immediately.

BRS Solution:
BRS offered an innovative solution, a
wireless computer with a keyboard touch
screen (Think of a laptop on steroids).
This wireless computer is designed for the
unforgiving world of the Forklift. The units
offer a
PSC standard range scanners. The scanners,
along with cabling and accessories placed
the price point at $4,500 a station. With
ten stations, this allowed the Client to
stay within budget and get the Forklifts up
and running with little or no down time.
With 802.11b frequency and access points,
they were able to connect to the
LAN instantly.
The Forklift/Workstation can scan inventory
into the company wide LAN database real time
using the wireless computer. The units could
have long range hand held scanners if the
application required it. |
